ZEBRA
• Has an overall striped pattern; a mix of dark to light brown chocolate lines with others mores in the range of the tan.
• The strips are narrow.
• The overall color mix is pretty much consistent. The pattern will vary from one batch to another one, just like any other wood. But the fact that the wood design consists of many colors it may more significantly highlight the difference.
• It has closed grain structure but not as tight a the maple.
• We use a quarter sawn cut to get the straight graining effect, book match.
• By using a quarter sawn type veneer, the orientation of the wood grain is most likely to have a straight pattern but light curves are part of the nature as well. The lines that mark the age of the wood can sometimes be closer and at other times larger with space in between. This pattern is similar to the maple and the cherry though opposite from the white oak where it is more consistent.
• Zebra comes from West Africa, Gabon and Cameroon.

WENGE
• Has an overall dark brown chocolate color. Although, the color is consistent, you can expect a 20% color variation (lighter) from time to time on different pieces.
• It has a strong grain, not recommended for full filled finish of high gloss finish.
• We use a Quarter Sawn cut to get the straight grainning effect, book match.
• Wenge is an African hardwood, from Zaïre, Camron and Gabon.
• Wenge is a nice natural brown wood color with a very deep and open wood grain.

Because of the deep and open wood grain we do not offer the High Gloss Finish for this specific specie.

IMPORTANT:
Do not expect the Wenge to age like all other domestic species that we are all used to working with. By opposition to the American Cherry that does get darker in time, the Natural Wenge will lighten in time. The dark streak will stay dark but the brown of the wood will significantly become pale, almost like a maple. This could happen over a 12 to 18 month period and it is not necessarily caused by the direct sun light exposition. Experience shows that even showroom light will also have this effect.

The exposed faces become lighter where as the inside face of the doors or components stay dark brown. A replacement door or component then becomes problematic. Our recommendation would be to use a brown spray stain or a tinted sealer in order to keep the color over time.

STEAM BEECH
• Has an overall light peach color with a slight amber hue.
• The natural light color variation is yellow-pink.
• Uniform wood grain and characteristics such as:
- fine flake in the grain
- not an open grain like the oak
- more tighter grain, closer maple
• Exposition to sunlight will slightly darken the natural color.
• We use a Quarter Sawn steam beech book-matched.
• The characteristics of the Quarter Sawn is the straight grain.
• Steam Beech comes from Germany, France, UK and other area from Europe.
WE RECOMMEND USING A LIGHT STAIN TO BRING A BETTER UNIFORMIY TO THE WOOD COLOR RATHER THAN JUST A CLEAR COAT FOR NATURAL.

WHITE OAK

• Has an overall tan color.
• Color varies from light tan to medium and can also grab some grey shades.
• Consistent wood grain structure, very open grain.
• Even if we use a Quarter Sawn Veneer the orientation of the wood grain is most likely to be a straight pattern but light curves are part of the nature as well.
• The exposition to sunlight will slighly darken the natural color.
• We use a book-matched Quarter Sawn.
• White Oak comes from the North American East Coast.
WE RECOMMEND USING A LIGHT STAIN TO BRING A BETTER UNIFORMIY TO THE WOOD COLOR RATHER THAN JUST A CLEAR COAT FOR NATURAL.

WALNUT

• Has a shell nut color with light and dark brown shade blending.
• It has closed grain structure.
• We use a Quarter Sawn cut to get the straight grainning effect, book match.
• Even if we use a Quarter Sawn type Veneer the orientation of the wood grain is most likely to be a straight pattern but light curves are part of the nature as well. The lines that mark the age of the wood can sometimes be closer and at other times larger with space
between. This pattern is like the Maple and the Cherry though opposite from the White Oak where it is more consistent.
• Walnut comes from North American East coast.

BIRD’S EYE
• Has a creamy white color, its colour can vary according to the season of cut. From white cream to dark cream the colour can vary to a yellowish or pinkish shade.
• The characteristics of the maple bird’s eye is the random pattern created by various little 3-D circles called bird’s eye in the wood which create the look of small eyes.
• The distribution, the color, the size and the shapes of these little eyes ARE NOT uniform through out the faces.
• Maple will exhibit some color variation from white to light brown and it will mellow slighly with exposure to sunlight.
• The type of cut for this specie may vary according to the availability. What we seek initially is the bird’s eye in maple. If the suppliers develop bird’s eye at the time of the rotary cut or the flat cut, they will accumulate it and preserve it for the rank of bird’s eye.The factor which plays the important part is the density of the bird’s eye.

If no finishing required:
Doors and Drawer fronts: will come standard edge banded with 3 mm solid edge in Birds Eye Maple

If finishing is required from CRVP:

- Satin finish:
• All Doors, Drawer fronts and Accessories come standard edge banded with 3 mm solid edge in Bird's Eye Maple
• All panels will be edge banded with thin edge in Bird's Eye Maple

- High-Gloss:
• All Doors, Drawer fronts and Accessories come standard edge banded with 3 mm solid edge in Regular MAPLE.

We do apply regular maple solid edge 3 mm to avoid pin holes in the edges. Because the edges are finished on the vertical, there is a risk of the Birds Eye Maple hole not being filled properly.

If you would still rather have a 3 mm solid edge Bird's Eye Maple please mention it clearly on your order form and/or on your returned signed confirmation.

All panels will be edge banded with thin edge in Bird's Eye Maple.

Because replacement parts may occur, we do recommend avoiding a Natural Finish. Remember, nature creates but does not duplicate. We always do our best to get the closest match for replacement parts, but the shade of veneer on a different batch might vary. CRVP will not be responsible if in any case the replacement components are not exactly the same color.

ANEGRE
• Has an overall light tan mix to light-pink color.
• The Anegre will have a stronger color variation when exposed to the sunlight, especially with just a clear coat. Not as severe as the Cherry but more than the maple or the White Oak.
• Consistent wood grain structure, similar to the cherry, but you won’t have the gum and the pin nut.
• Even if we use a Quarter Sawn type Veneer the orientation of the wood grain is most likely to be a straight pattern but light curves are part of the nature as well. The lines that mark the age of the wood can sometimes be closer and other times larger with space
between. This pattern is like the Maple and the Cherry though opposite from the White Oak where it is more consistent.
• Anegre comes from East and West Africa.
• Significant color variation within the same veneer sheet.

Anegre is a very nice exotic veneer but it also contains its share of risk.
For example: Anegre is not as uniform as maple in terms of the color of the wood grain.

Although we do have strict quality control requesting Anegre to stay within a certain shade range, nature has taught us that it is sometimes difficult to respect this. The shades will vary from light pink to reddish. It can also vary in the yellow shade and the grey shade.

Please be aware that we do minimize the yield when we cut in our 4 x 8 veneer faces, it may happen that a door cut out from the bottom of the sheet will end-up beside a door cut from the top of the 4 x 8 veneer face. The contrast of the color variation might then be more evident.

Therefore: Because replacement parts may occur, we do recommend avoiding a Natural Finish.
Remember, nature creates but does not duplicate. We always do our best to get the closest match for replacement parts, but the shade of veneer on a different batch might vary. CRVP will not be responsible if in any case the replacement components are not exactly the same color.
WE RECOMMEND USING A LIGHT STAIN TO BRING A BETTER UNIFORMIY TO THE WOOD COLOR RATHER THAN JUST A CLEAR COAT FOR NATURAL.

SLAB TYPE DOOR AND 4’ X 8’ PANELS

Please note again the principal that: Nature creates but does not duplicate.

In order to avoid color or shade variations from your doors to your panels, we do recommend that you order the panels at the very same time, with a special mention:

these panels to match with these doors and vice versa ” .

The panels will be pulled out from the same sequence of faces that the doors will be picked from.
If the doors are ordered in a different time frame then the panels, they will then be picked from a different lot of veneer.
